Newcastle Evening Chronicle - 7 May 1918: Killed in action, 12th April, 1918, aged 21½ years, Lance-Corporal Raymond Eldon, 12535, Coldstream Guards, dearly beloved oldest son of James and Mary Eldon, of 32, Jubilee Street, Wallsend, grandson of James and Ellen Eldon, also grandson of the late Richard and Mary Glanville, Cleator Moor. Deeply mourned by his sorrowing father and mother, brothers and sister. May his reward be as great as his sacrifice. R.I.P. Cumberland papers please copy. Newcastle Journal - 14 May 1918: DEATHS. Mr and Mrs Jas. Eldon, 32, Jubilee Street, Wallsend, have received news that their son, Lance-Corporal Raymond Eldon, Coldstream Guards, was killed on April 12. Newcastle Evening Chronicle - 12 April 1919: Eldon. - In loving memory of our dear son, Lance-Corporal Raymond Eldon, 3rd Coldstream Guards, killed in action April 12, 1918, aged 21 years. He sleeps beside his comrades, In a hallowed grave unknown, But his name is written in letters of love, In the hearts he left at home. Deeply mourned and sadly missed by his loving father and mother, brothers and sister. R.I.P. Also my dear sister, Mable Coles (nee Glanville) who died at Paunton, March 19, 1918, aged 28 years. Thy will be done.
